Zixi Tan, Illustrator
Having won a scholarship in 2006
after receiving her BA in Graphic Design in Singapore, Zixi Tan majored in Illustration at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London. As a Singpapore-based independent full-time illustrator, Tan has learned to find beauty in the vernacular, the “everyday”, and often dreams of a bigger, better world – a brighter “everyday” - from the small isle. Various mediums form fresh landscapes for her to bring each unique concept and theme to life. Collaborative projects with graphic designers, fashion labels and museums have also expanded her world as she presses on to create work that is fun, new and relevant. Tan held her first solo exhibition "Ten Years of Work for Every Minute on Stage" at The Art Studio in Singapore in 2010
. Her work has been widely recognised in the form of awards such as London Creative International Competition’s ‘New Talent of Year 2010
’, ‘Best Illustrator 2010
’ by JUICE
Magazine in Singapore, Singapore Women's Weekly
's ‘Most Inspiring Award’ of 'Great Women of Our Time 2013
', and winning The Hedwig Anuar Children's Book Award 2013
for Where's Grandma?
, which she illustrated.
